Role Description
Host360 is seeking an exceptional Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of cloud infrastructure by exploring emerging technologies, validating innovative ideas through hands-on experimentation, and transforming technical concepts into market-ready products using and deploying LLMs, AI Tools and self learning.
You will operate at the intersection of engineering excellence, platform architecture, and product innovation. This role is ideal for technologists who thrive on discovery, experimentation, and translating cutting-edge technical possibilities into real-world solutions that drive business value.
##What You'll Do
1. Nutanix Infrastructure Engineering
- Deploy, configure, and manage Nutanix AHV clusters, Prism Central, and Prism Element across single and multi-site environments.
- Administer Nutanix Acropolis (AOS), AHV hypervisor, and associated storage fabric including distributed storage (DSF) and volume groups.
- Implement and maintain Nutanix Calm for infrastructure automation, blueprint design, and self-service provisioning workflows.
- Configure and manage Nutanix Flow (microsegmentation and network security policies) and Nutanix Files/Objects for NFS, SMB, and S3-compatible storage workloads.
- Manage cluster upgrades, Life Cycle Manager (LCM) operations, and hardware replacements with minimal downtime.
- Perform capacity planning, right-sizing, and workload placement analysis using Nutanix X-Ray and performance monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot hardware, hypervisor, storage, and networking issues across the Nutanix stack; liaise with Nutanix support for escalations.
2. Technology Discovery & Innovation
- Research and evaluate emerging Nutanix capabilities (Xi Leap DR, Karbon Kubernetes, Xi Frame VDI, Cloud Clusters on AWS/Azure) to identify adoption opportunities.
- Track Nutanix product roadmap, NEXT community developments, and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) industry trends.
- Assess new technologies for scalability, security, cost-efficiency, and operational impact before recommending adoption.
- Stay current on cloud-native architectures, automation frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
3. Proof of Concept (POC) Development & Prototyping
- Design and implement rapid POCs to validate new ideas and technical hypotheses
- Build reference architectures, experimental labs, and prototype environments
- Benchmark performance, reliability, cost, and operational complexity
- Identify technical risks, limitations, and operational considerations early in the innovation cycle
- Document findings with detailed analysis, trade-offs, and actionable recommendations
4. Product Ideation & Requirements Definition
- Convert validated technical concepts into structured product ideas
- Define target users, customer use cases, and clear value propositions
- Create comprehensive Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) including problem statements, objectives, functional/non-functional requirements, architecture overviews, security considerations, and dependency mapping
- Translate technical innovation into business outcomes and customer benefits
- Develop go-to-market readiness documentation for new platform capabilities
5. Cloud Infrastructure Management & Operations
- Monitor cloud infrastructure for availability, performance, and operational health across multi-cloud environments
- Perform proactive capacity planning to support scalability and business growth objectives
- Provision, configure, and manage cloud compute resources with a focus on automation and repeatability
- Administer cloud storage systems ensuring performance, redundancy, and cost efficiency
- Manage virtual networking components including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing tables, load balancers, and gateways
- Implement and maintain cloud-native monitoring, alerting, and observability tools
- Optimize resource utilization to control cloud spend and eliminate waste through FinOps best practices
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions for cloud workloads
- Conduct routine infrastructure health checks and preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot infrastructure-related alerts, service disruptions, and performance degradation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and resource inventory
- Provide incident support and root cause analysis for cloud infrastructure issues
- Collaborate with security teams to identify and remediate cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities
6. Automation & Infrastructure as Code
- Build and maintain automation pipelines for Nutanix provisioning using Nutanix Calm DSL, Python, and REST APIs (Prism v3 API).
- Develop Terraform providers and Ansible playbooks for repeatable infrastructure deployments.
- Integrate Nutanix environments into CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure validation and testing.
- Maintain Git-based infrastructure-as-code repositories and enforce code review and change management practices.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enablement
- Partner with Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Security, Compliance, Customer Success, and Pre-Sales teams
- Support internal knowledge sharing through technical workshops, lunch-and-learns, and documentation
- Provide technical input during go-to-market planning and customer-facing engagements
- Act as a technical advisor and subject matter expert for emerging cloud technologies
8. Documentation & Thought Leadership
- Create technical documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), design notes, and internal proposals
- Maintain up-to-date architecture diagrams, system designs, and technology evaluation frameworks
- Present findings, recommendations, and technology roadmaps to leadership and stakeholders
- Contribute to technical blogs, whitepapers, or open-source projects (encouraged)
##WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
1. Technical Excellence (Good to have)
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or private cloud platforms (OpenStack, VMware, Nutanix)
- Infrastructure Fundamentals: Deep understanding of virtualization, bare-metal infrastructure, Kubernetes, container orchestration, networking (VPCs, routing, load balancing), and storage systems (block, object, distributed)
- Automation & IaC: Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
- Experimental Mindset: Proven track record of building POCs, labs, test environments, and experimental architectures
- Cloud-Native Ecosystem: Experience with CNCF projects (Kubernetes, Prometheus, Helm, Istio, Argo, etc.)
2. AI/ML Skills (Good to have)
Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts including NLP, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, intent detection, Agentic AI, and feature engineering.
Familiarity with ML lifecycle practices such as Basic ML, data pipelines, Intent detection, CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, drift detection, and performance metrics.
3. Product & Architecture Thinking
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into structured product requirements and customer value propositions
- Experience writing or contributing to PRDs, design documents, RFCs, or technical specifications
- Strong system design and architectural thinking with focus on scalability, reliability, and security
- Understanding of security principles, compliance frameworks, and operational best practices
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs between innovation, risk, cost, and time-to-market
