Data Scientist

Location - Pune /Remote


What You'll Do

  • Build, evaluate, and improve multi-label URL and domain classification models used in Securly's production web filtering pipeline
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that ingest, clean, label, and version training data at scale
  • Design and run offline evaluation frameworks (precision, recall, F1, coverage) and connect them to production monitoring
  • Investigate and resolve classification errors: false positives (over-blocking) and false negatives (under-blocking) reported by districts and flagged by internal monitoring
  • Research and prototype improvements: new feature representations, model architectures, active learning for label efficiency, domain adaptation for emerging content categories
  • Work with engineering to integrate model outputs into the production filtering stack with appropriate latency and reliability constraints
  • Support CIPA compliance requirements — ensure Self-Harm, Violence, and Adult Content categories meet regulatory standards across district configurations

Required

  • Machine learning — classification models (multi-label, multi-class), model evaluation methodology, handling class imbalance, feature engineering for text/URL data.


  • Python (ML stack) — scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow, pandas, numpy. Production-quality code, not just notebooks.


  • Text / NLP feature engineering — URL tokenization, domain analysis, HTML content features, TF-IDF or embedding-based representations for web content classification.


  • ML evaluation — precision/recall tradeoffs, confusion matrix analysis, offline vs. online evaluation, A/B testing for model updates.


  • Data engineering — building and maintaining training data pipelines; data versioning; handling noisy, imbalanced, and partially labeled datasets.

Strongly Preferred


  • Large-scale classification systems — experience shipping classification models to production pipelines processing millions of requests, with latency and throughput constraints.


  • Active learning / annotation workflows — strategies for efficient label acquisition on large, imbalanced datasets.


  • Cloud ML infrastructure (AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, or equivalent) — training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines.


Nice to Have

  • Web content / URL classification domain experience — prior work on web categorization, safe browsing, or content policy systems.


  • K-12 / CIPA compliance — understanding of regulated content categories and the compliance requirements around them.


  • LLM-based classification — using instruction-tuned models for zero-shot or few-shot content classification, especially for emerging content categories.


  • Graph / network features — domain co-occurrence, DNS graph features, or network-based signals for domain classification.


The L5 Standard

All Bedrock positions are L5 minimum. That means: no routine mistakes in code, architecture, or QA. Professional-level output across the board. Able to operate independently on complex, ambiguous problems without constant oversight. If you need hand-holding on the core technical requirements listed above, this is not the right role.
