VP - Quality Management Tax Operations – Client Tax Reporting

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to be part of the Quality Management Team in Wealth Operations, specifically focusing on Tax Reporting. This role involves overseeing the Quality Assurance framework for all Client Tax reporting activities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with diverse and complex regulations & Tax laws. This role is crucial for managing the integrity and accuracy of information across a broad range of wealth management products and client portfolios. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of global tax regulations, a keen understanding of the intricacies of wealth management, and the ability to lead and inspire a global team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance Oversight & Execution:Oversee the Quality Assurance for Client Tax reporting activities, ensuring adherence to submission deadlines and accuracy standards.Execute Quality Assurance activities for Client Tax Reporting, designing and performing sample testing to review accurate and timely tax reports in compliance with Tax and perform comprehensive data reconciliation and validation to ensure the integrity of Tax reporting.
• Tax Compliance:Lead the interpretation, assessment, and implementation of complex new or revised Tax requirements, providing guidance to the and lead responses to queries from Tax Authorities and internal control assessments (, MCA framework) specifically related to Tax , chair, and/or participate in tax governance forums.Identify potential discrepancies or issues in Tax reporting and escalate them appropriately.Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance the risk and control framework for Tax reporting abreast of evolving global tax requirements, Citi policies, standards and adapt the QA framework to meet new compliance standards, especially those impacting wealth management products such as investments, alternatives, funds, deposits, structured products, and advisory services etc.
• Stakeholder Management & Communication:Serve as a primary liaison with internal stakeholders (, Corporate Tax, ICRM, Legal, Business Units) and external tax authorities.Collaborate with compliance, risk, legal, operations, technology, product owners, report owners, Enterprise data & tax reporting, and banking teams to address QA issues, develop remediation plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives specific to Wealth Management.
• Team Leadership & Development:Provide expert guidance, training, and mentorship to junior team all the audit, internal and external review engagements.Communicate with regulators as required, co-ordinate back reporting/replays if necessary.
• Process Improvement & Automation:Drive process improvement and automation initiatives within the Tax reporting function.Identify and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of tax reporting, considering the diverse range of products and services offered to global clients.Develop and monitor robust data quality metrics and controls to ensure the integrity of data used for tax reporting, from client data to complex product transactions.
• Risk Assessment:Conduct regular risk, self - assessments to identify gaps in existing QA processes, with a focus on mitigating compliance risks associated with diverse client portfolios and complex investment products.
• Reporting & Analytics:Develop and present comprehensive reports to senior management on the status of QA programs, key findings, and recommendations for improvement, highlighting areas of risk and strategic focus.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Advanced certifications (, CFA, CPA, FRM) are highly desirable.
• Professional Experience:Extensive experience (typically 8-10+ years) in implementing Controls and Quality Assurance in Client Tax Reporting within the financial services industry, with specific experience in Wealth leadership experience, with a track record of managing large, cross-functional teams across multiple locations, particularly in complex, global knowledge of various Client Tax Reporting frameworks (, FATCA, CRS, Relief at Source, Reclaim at Source) and indirect Tax regimes like GST, VAT, FTT, and the ability to interpret and apply tax requirements to Wealth Management products and services.Experience and understanding in Due Diligence, Withholding, and reporting specifically Indirect Tax reporting is understanding of key Tax reporting frameworks and requirements.Additionally, working experience and knowledge on regulatory frameworks (, Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, MAS, HKMA, Volker) will be preferred. Working experience in trade and transaction processing is a plus.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in data analytics and QA tools; experience with automated QA testing frameworks is a plus.Proficiency in reconciliation, advanced Excel functions, and automation tools.
• Core Competencies:Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external understanding and experience with risk and control analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets, identify trends, and address issues within the context of wealth management client portfolios.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives and front-office attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to navigate a fast-paced, complex environment with multiple competing priorities.Experience in managing documentation for Tax Authority submissions and audit trails.
