ABOUT ZOOP
Zoop is building India's live bazaar — sellers multicast livestreams across Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram from a single phone while buyers discover, watch, and purchase in real time. We're a Peak XV-backed team with real revenue, 1,000+ active sellers across 15+ states, and a product in market daily.
We're closing our pre-seed round and scaling from 15 to 40+ people across engineering, product, marketing, seller ops, and growth. The people foundation we build now will define who Zoop becomes.
THE ROLE
We're hiring our first dedicated People & Culture hire. Reporting directly to the founders, you'll own the entire people function end-to-end — from talent acquisition and onboarding to performance management, employer branding, ESOP administration, culture building, and org design.
This is a founding team position in the Founder's Office. Part strategist, part builder, part culture guardian. You won't just 'do HR' — you'll architect how Zoop attracts, hires, develops, and retains exceptional talent needed to build a category-defining company.
This is not a traditional HR role where you enforce policies from a desk. You'll sit in product debates, seller ops discussions, and growth experiments — because understanding our work deeply is how you'll hire and build for it.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition & Hiring Bar
• Own full hiring pipeline — sourcing, screening, assessments, and closing across all functions (engineering, product, design, marketing, ops, growth)
• Partner with founders and team leads to define roles, craft JDs, and design assessments
• Be the guardian of Zoop's hiring bar — ensure every hire raises the average
• Build sourcing channels — LinkedIn, job boards, campus outreach, referrals, community networks
• Track hiring metrics (time-to-hire, pipeline conversion, offer-accept rate) and improve continuously
Employer Branding
• Build Zoop's reputation as a destination for ambitious talent — careers page, LinkedIn, campus narratives
• Partner with marketing on hiring content: founder stories, team spotlights, day-in-the-life pieces
• Develop a compelling pitch for candidates competing against Bangalore startups and Big Tech offers
Onboarding & Employee Experience
• Design structured onboarding — general and team-specific — so new hires are productive in week one
• Create a 'first 30 days' playbook for every function with milestones and check-ins
• Own the full employee lifecycle from offer letter to growth conversations
Performance, Growth & Compensation
• Design lightweight performance review cycles and continuous feedback frameworks
• Build comp bands benchmarked against Delhi/Bangalore startup market
• Own ESOP administration — grant letters, vesting schedules, employee equity education
• Create career progression frameworks for high performers
Culture & Org Design
• Help define, document, and reinforce Zoop's values and ways of working
• Thought partner on org design — team structures, pods, IC-to-manager ratio
• Design team rituals, offsites, and feedback systems (pulse surveys, 1-on-1 frameworks)
• Champion inclusive hiring practices from day one
People Infrastructure & Compliance
• Build people ops stack from scratch — ATS, HRIS, hiring dashboards
• Manage PF/ESI compliance, leave policies, payroll coordination per Indian labor law
• Build scalable systems and documentation — infrastructure, not bureaucracy
REQUIREMENTS
Must-Have:
• 2–5 years of people/HR experience, ideally at a high-growth startup in India
• End-to-end hiring experience for both technical and non-technical roles
• Highly organized — can manage 10+ pipelines simultaneously
• Strong writing skills — JDs, internal comms, offer letters, culture docs
• Comfortable building from scratch — you'll create systems, not inherit them
• High ownership and speed — operate like a founder, not a function
Nice-to-Have:
• Indian employment compliance experience (PF, ESI, gratuity, labor law)
• Familiarity with ESOP structures and startup compensation practices
• Experience hiring across Delhi and Bangalore talent markets
• Hands-on with ATS tools (Lever, Greenhouse, Recruiterflow) or HRIS platforms
• Built employer branding or talent marketing at a previous startup
