Purchase Executive

Job Summary

The Purchase Executive – MRO will be responsible for procuring maintenance, repair, and operational supplies to ensure smooth plant operations. The role involves vendor management, cost optimization, and ensuring timely availability of spare parts, consumables, and machinery components.

Key Responsibilities

• Procurement & Vendor Management:
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for MRO items, including spare parts, tools, lubricants, electrical components, and consumables.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to optimize costs without compromising quality.
• Ensure timely procurement to prevent production downtime.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and explore new sources for cost and efficiency improvements.
• Inventory & Cost Control:
• Work closely with the maintenance team to forecast and manage spare parts inventory.
• Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and availability.
• Track procurement budgets and analyse cost-saving opportunities.
• Quality & Compliance:
• Ensure all purchased materials comply with required quality standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with suppliers and quality teams to resolve non-conformance issues.
• Maintain documentation and records for audits and compliance purposes.
• Process Optimization & Reporting:
• Implement best procurement practices, including Just-in-Time (JIT) and vendor-managed inventory (VMI).
• Develop and maintain procurement KPIs, including cost reduction, lead time improvement, and supplier performance.
• Prepare reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost analysis.
• Coordination & Cross-functional Support:
• Collaborate with the maintenance and production teams to understand urgent requirements.
• Work with finance for purchase order approvals and invoice verification.
• Support in new project procurements, including capital equipment and automation solutions.
  
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of MRO procurement in a manufacturing setup.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics).
• Understanding of inventory control and supply chain management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience in purchasing spare parts for electrical, mechanical, and utility equipment.
• Exposure to ISO/TS audits and procurement best practices.
