Job Description — Senior SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) Consultant / Associate Manager (3–7 years)
Role title : Senior SAP MDG Consultant / Associate Manager
Contract : 3 months initial (full-time, extendable)
Location : Remote
Reports to : Programme Lead / Client MDG Sponsor
Objective :
Lead design and delivery of a centralized Master Data Governance (MDG) framework built on SAP MDG. Own architecture, prioritization of master data objects, complex object design (custom objects), workflows, validation rules and overall governance adoption.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and finalize prioritization of the 34 remaining master data objects across EAM, Finance, Procurement, PP / QM and HSE.
- Design centralized MDG architecture and integration approach (S / 4HANA / ECC / middleware).
- Architect and configure prioritized out-of-the-box and custom MDG objects, data models, value help, validations and business rules.
- Design and deploy workflows and approvals (role-based, auditable).
- Build test strategy, oversee unit / integration / UAT, and resolve defects.
- Define data quality rules, exception handling and automated controls.
- Create migration / cutover approach for master data objects (templates, scripts).
- Prepare training material, run training sessions & handover governance playbook.
- Mentor / coordinate with junior resource;
liaise with client SMEs, technical team and vendor delivery leads.
Provide weekly progress reports, risk register and change requests.Must-have skills & experience
6+ years hands-on experience with SAP MDG (functional + configuration).Proven experience implementing MDG in S / 4HANA / ECC landscapes and integrating with other enterprise systems.Expertise in custom MDG object modelling, BRF+ or rule engines, workflow configuration, validations and UI enhancements.Strong understanding of master data domains : Material, Business Partner (BP), Finance (GL / Cost centers), Purchasing, EAM, PP / QM, HSE.Experience with data migration, LSMW / DTM / MDG import processes.Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.Excellent documentation, training and change-management skills.Degree in engineering / IT / business or equivalent.Deliverables (3 months)
Prioritized object list and implementation roadmap (Week 1–2).Detailed MDG architecture & integration design (Week 2–3).Configured 6–10 prioritized objects (targeting highest business criticality in first 8 weeks).Validation rules, workflows and test plans.Migration templates + one pilot object migrated to MDG.Training, knowledge transfer and governance playbook.Weekly status reports and final 3-month delivery report with next-phase recommendations.Acceptance criteria / KPIs
Acceptance of architecture doc by client within 5 business days.At least 60–70% of highest-priority objects configured (or a mutually agreed target) within 3 months.Zero critical production defects for migrated pilot object at sign-off.Training delivered and governance playbook accepted.
