Job description

Key Responsibilities :

1. Transcription & Documentation

  • Transcribe dictated recordings from cardiologists for procedures such as :
  • Echocardiograms (2D / 3D Echo, Stress Echo)
  • ECGs, Holter monitoring reports, TMT reports
  • Carotid Doppler, ABI studies, and other non-invasive investigations
  • Edit and proofread transcripts for grammar, medical terminology, and formatting accuracy.

2. Report Management

  • Prepare final reports in the required format for patient files, EMR (electronic medical records), and consultants' review.
  • Ensure timely delivery of transcribed reports to meet patient care and department deadlines.
  • 3. Terminology & Accuracy

  • Ensure use of accurate and standardized cardiology-specific terminology.
  • Understand common abbreviations and shorthand used in cardiology dictations.
  • Flag inconsistencies or unclear dictations for review by medical staff.
  • 4. Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with cardiologists, technicians, and clerical staff to streamline report workflows.
  • Maintain confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA / data protection guidelines.
  • Provide support during audits or record requests by internal or external reviewers.
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • Educational Requirement :
  • Bachelor's degree in any stream (preferably life sciences)
  • Certification or diploma in medical transcription (preferred)
  • Experience :
  • Minimum 1–2 years in medical transcription, preferably in cardiology or diagnostic imaging departments
  • Experience with speech recognition software is an added advantage
  • Skills & Competencies :

  • Strong understanding of cardiology terms, investigations, and non-invasive procedures
  • Fast and accurate typing (minimum 50–60 wpm preferred)
  • Excellent listening and comprehension of medical dictation
  • Strong command of English grammar and medical report formatting
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and transcription software
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality handling
