About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator with proven expertise in the Canadian trucking and transportation industry. This role is for a professional who can manage full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance independently — with precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records for fleet operations and freight transactions.
  • Process accounts payable / receivable, including fuel cards, permits, and vendor payments.
  • Manage payroll, driver settlements, and reimbursements.
  • Handle provincial fuel tax reporting and quarterly filings.
  • Track equipment depreciation, maintenance costs, and compliance-related expenses.
  • Reconcile bank / credit card accounts and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Ensure GST / HST, CRA, and year-end compliance, including audit support.
  • Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years bookkeeping / accounting experience in Canada (transportation / trucking experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record of handling Canadian payroll administration.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online & Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian taxes and provincial fuel tax compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup with minimal supervision.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and reliability.
