About the Team

The Machine Learning and Data Team is central to developing cutting-edge, AI-driven features within Workday Peakon. This highly collaborative team works tightly with Product Managers, Developers, and Designers to bring sophisticated ML / AI capabilities into the product.

About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll be instrumental indesigning, implementing, and executing comprehensive test strategies for ML models and AI-driven features, including data validation, performance benchmarking, bias detection, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of intelligent agents.

Beyond the core MLE unit, you will collaborate closely withMLOpsandProduct QA. The team operates in an environment focused on product excellence and growth, requiring you to understand the broader product strategy, contribute to the software development lifecycle, and ultimatelytake ownership of ML projectsto deliver significant business impact.

About You

Basic Qualification

Industry Experience : 8+ years of experience as anSDET(Software Development Engineer in Test), with a focus onarchitecting and buildingtest automation solutions, performance testing frameworks, andCI / CD pipelinesfor quality assurance.

Technical Depth : 4+ years of hands-on experience utilising variousprogramming languages (including Phyton), test automation frameworks, and performance testing tools. 1+ years of experience testing AI / ML solutions.

Education : Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such asComputer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Core Qualifications & Technical Skills

Test Automation & Frameworks : Strong ability inAlgorithmic Thinkingto design, implement, and optimize complexTest Automation Frameworks.

ML / AI Testing Expertise : Solid experience with Automated Testing, specifically designing and executing comprehensive test strategies forML models and AI-driven features, coveringdata validation, performance benchmarking, bias detection, and ensuring agent accuracy and reliability.

Programming & SDLC : Strong proficiency inPython and other relevant programming languagesfor test automation and tool development. Must have a solid understanding ofSoftware Development principlesand experience contributing to software projects.

DevOps & CI / CD : Strong understanding ofCI / CD pipelinesand proven experience integrating and optimizing automated testing within the delivery process.

Version Control : Solid experience withSource Control Management (SCM) toolsand advanced branching and merging strategies.

Test Strategy & Design : Deep understanding of variousTesting StrategiesandTest Design principles, including the ability to create complex test cases and design comprehensive automation approaches.

Leadership & Collaboration

Team Leadership : Proven ability to leadTeam Collaborationefforts within development and testing teams andmentor junior SDETs.

Documentation & Management : Experience withTest Documentationstandards and the ability to maintain comprehensive records. Good understanding ofTest Management toolsfor planning and tracking automated testing efforts.
