About the Role :
We are looking for a Linux Audio QA Engineer to lead or contribute individually to the validation and certification of embedded audio subsystems across diverse platforms. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring top-tier audio performance, minimal latency, and seamless integration with voice assistants, telecom, and multimedia stacks. Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and execute manual and automated test cases for Linux audio stacks including ALSA, PulseAudio, and PipeWire.
- Validate end-to-end audio use cases : A2DP, HFP / HSP, TDM, I2S, PCM, HDMI, USB Audio, etc.
- Measure and analyze audio performance metrics : latency, jitter, synchronization.
- Debug and collaborate with audio driver, HAL, and platform software teams.
- Utilize tools like Audacity, arecord / aplay, alsa-info.sh, and latency profilers.
- Design and maintain test automation frameworks using Python and PyTest.
- Document results, log issues, and ensure timely resolution of audio-related bugs.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Deep understanding of the Linux audio stack ALSA, PulseAudio, PipeWire.Experience with embedded audio routing, device tree configurations, and hardware interfaces.Familiarity with Bluetooth audio profiles (A2DP, HFP / HSP).Strong in test automation, scripting, and debugging.Sound knowledge of audio test standards and methodologies (e.g., THD, SNR).Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.Bonus / Nice to Have :
Experience with Android Audio HAL or embedded multimedia stacks.Knowledge of real-time audio processing and audio codec behavior.Exposure to continuous integration (CI) systems for QA pipelines.(ref : hirist.tech)
