ArcelorMittal Green Energy is a 100% captive subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Netherland, established in the year 2022. Currently we have an operational capacity of 1.2 GW Greenfield project of renewable (hybrid) power in Andhra Pradesh with a 2.4 GW of under construction projects at Rajasthan, Gujarat & Maharashtra. Our target is to achieve an installed capacity of 7 GW renewable power by 2030.
The Lead - Permits & Approvals (Regulatory) will be responsible for end-to-end management of statutory approvals, regulatory permits, and compliance processes for renewable energy projects. The role involves close coordination with central and state government authorities, utilities, and internal project teams to ensure timely clearances, connectivity approvals, and compliance with applicable standards and acts. The incumbent will play a key role in enabling seamless project execution by ensuring all regulatory requirements are proactively identified and fulfilled.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the acquisition and management of all statutory approvals and regulatory clearances required for renewable energy projects across India.
- Secure approvals related to connectivity (CTUIL / STU), CEA Section 68 & 164, PTCC, and first-time charging (FTC) for renewable assets.
- Liaise with MNRE, MOP, MOD, CEA, SECI, SLDCs, and SERCs for project-related permits, aviation NOCs, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee technical regulatory filings with CERC, SERC, and CEA for both technical and commercial petitions.
- Ensure compliance with CEA regulations on safety, metering, and technical standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams - engineering, legal, and project execution - to integrate regulatory timelines with project schedules.
- Track and interpret new policies, amendments, and circulars impacting renewable project development and advise management accordingly.
- Maintain structured documentation, trackers, and dashboards for all regulatory submissions and approvals.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key government departments, utilities, and industry stakeholders to facilitate faster approvals.
- Support internal power sale procedures and ensure compliance with open access, grid, and trading regulations.
Functional Skills :
Proven expertise in obtaining and managing regulatory permits for renewable energy and transmission projects.Strong understanding of Indian Electricity Rules, MNRE & CEA processes, and grid connectivity regulations.Experience in liaisoning with utilities, SLDCs, and government departments.Familiarity with technical studies (PSS / E, PSCAD) for renewable generation assets.Proficient in documentation, process tracking, and compliance reporting.Behavioral Skills :

B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).MBA in Power Management / Energy Management from NPTI Faridabad or UPES Dehradun (would be8-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, approvals, or compliance for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or hybrid).Strong background in managing grid connectivity, CEA approvals, and project regulatory documentation.Exposure to power sale procedures, open access frameworks, and energy trading mechanisms will be an advantage.(ref : iimjobs.com)
