The Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and improving the quality processes across Standard Room, Gauge Room, and In-Process Quality functions. The role demands strong application of quality tools and methodologies such as 7 QC Tools, 8D, PPAP, FMEA, and IATF 16949 standards to ensure quality excellence. This includes managing calibration, resolving line issues, ensuring adherence to QMS standards, and supporting new product development and proto vehicle projects.
Role & responsibilities
Quality Control & Assurance
- Implement and maintain 7 QC Tools and 8D methodology for problem solving.
- Handle quality issues occurring during the shift; prepare and submit CAPA and action plans.
- Conduct rejection analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize rework.
- Perform L-process, final, first-off, and layout inspections.
- Attend line quality issues and support immediate resolution.
Training & Development
Educate shop floor teams on QMS standards, quality tools, and best practices.Conduct skill enhancement training for new and existing operators.Documentation & Audits
Prepare IATF 16949 : 2016 documentation and ensure compliance.Support PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Product, Process & System audits.Maintain and update Calibration Reports (internal and external) and gauge room documentation.Gauge Room & Calibration Management
Oversee in-house calibration activities for instruments and gauges.Ensure timely calibration and maintenance of line gauges / instruments.Manage procurement and drawing study for new gauges and quality instruments.Process Improvements & Cost Control
Drive continuous improvement using Kaizen (target : 2 Kaizens / month).Reduce internal PPM and DPV through structured quality initiatives.Contribute to cost reduction through quality improvements and efficiency optimization.Project Involvement
Support proto development of electric buses (e.g., NMMT-12M / 9M, AJL-9M, NTPC-12M, DIMS-12M CNG).Ensure ORC closure for new proto vehicles.Standardization & MIS
Design SOPs and Work Instructions for processes and operations.Ensure effective 5S implementation in all assigned areas.Technical Skills :
Expertise in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., 7 QC Tools, SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, 8D).Strong understanding of EV components, systems, and maintenance requirements.Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software for quality control.Leadership & Soft Skills :
