Job Title : Garment Merchandiser
Job Summary
The Garment Merchandiser shall be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of apparel production—from product development and costing to production follow-up and delivery. This role coordinates between buyers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure products meet quality, price, and timeline requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Sampling
Develop seasonal product lines based on buyer requirements and market trends.
Coordinate sample creation (proto, fit, PP, TOP) with design, pattern, and sampling teams.
Review samples for fit, quality, fabric, trims, and workmanship before sending to buyers.
Ensure timely delivery of all sample submissions.
2. Buyer Communication
Serve as the main point of contact between buyers and the factory.
Understand buyer specifications and translate them into actionable instructions for internal teams.
Negotiate pricing, order quantities, lead times, and delivery schedules.
3. Costing & Order Management
Prepare detailed cost sheets based on fabric, trims, labor, and overheads.
Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to achieve cost targets.
Confirm purchase orders (POs) and ensure accurate documentation.
4. Production Follow-up
Monitor fabric and trim bookings, approvals, and in-house dates.
Track production progress from cutting to packing to ensure on-time delivery.
Resolve issues related to quality, shortages, or delays with relevant departments.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure garments meet buyer quality standards and testing requirements.
Review lab dips, strike-offs, fabric quality, wash standards, and trims for approval.
Coordinate with QA teams during inline and final inspections.
6. Logistics & Delivery
Arrange shipment schedules and ensure all export documentation is complete.
Track shipments and coordinate with freight forwarders to meet delivery deadlines.
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and production processes.
Proficient in costing and price negotiation.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
Good command of MS Excel, ERP / PLM systems (optional).
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Engineering, Garment Technology, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in garment merchandising (for mid-level roles).
Experience with knitwear / woven / outerwear depending on product category.
