Job Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Metrics

  • Design, implement, and maintain quality metrics to effectively track project progress and product health.
  • Take ownership of defining and driving quality processes and methodologies across the QA lifecycle.

Requirements & Test Planning

  • Analyze functional and design specifications to ensure thorough understanding and test coverage.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define and execute detailed test plans and strategies.
  • Write and review test plans and test cases for accuracy, coverage, and compliance with QA best practices.

    • Testing Execution & Coverage

  • Conduct comprehensive functional and performance testing for Dish services and applications.
  • Develop and execute manual and automated UI test cases, especially for TV-based applications.
  • Maintain regression suites across multiple code branches and ensure regular execution.

    • Automation & DevOps Integration

  • Lead automation efforts by developing robust test scripts and frameworks.
  • Classify test cases as manual or automatable and prioritize accordingly.
  • Integrate automated tests across all target devices in the CI / CD pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team to analyze and resolve test failures.

    • Defect Management & Risk Assessment

  • Monitor and update defect logs; track issue resolution in collaboration with development and QA teams.
  • Evaluate ongoing projects for interdependencies and potential conflicts that may impact testing.

    • Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor new team members, helping them quickly onboard and understand the project ecosystem.
  • Lead by example through hands-on contributions to test development and problem-solving.

    • Product Quality & Innovation

  • Ensure the overall quality of products delivered to customers by validating all critical functionalities.
  • Drive the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept initiatives to explore new tools, frameworks, or processes.
  • Contribute to comprehensive, clear, and reusable QA documentation.

    • Skills, Experience and Requirements

    Over 8+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance with expertise in both manual and automation testing for media and full-stack applications.

    Solid understanding of streaming technologies and protocols, including DASH and HLS , with practical experience in streaming application testing .

    Demonstrated ability to establish and lead automation testing initiatives , ensuring robust test coverage and continuous improvement.

    Proficient in JavaScript / TypeScript , with hands-on experience in automation tools such as CodeceptJS and Selenium .

    Strong scripting skills in Java and Python , with the ability to contribute to framework enhancements and expand automation coverage.

    Skilled in debugging and root cause analysis , with the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently.

    Experienced in Agile methodologies , with a good understanding of CI / CD and DevOps practices.

    Familiar with CI / CD pipeline integration for automation testing across integration , regression , and system levels .

    Comfortable working with Git for collaborative development and version control.

    Experienced in test planning , effort estimation , and scoping of QA activities.

    Desirable experience in :

    Audio / video quality assurance and player performance testing

    Testing OTT applications on embedded consumer electronics such as Smart TVs , gaming consoles , and media streaming devices

    Using network debugging tools like Charles Proxy , Wireshark , and Fiddler

    Strong manual testing capabilities, with a proven track record in developing test scenarios across various phases of client-server application testing on OTT platforms.
