Role purpose :

Assess the design, manufacture and in-service aspects of engineering assets, using defined Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures and knowledge and experience appropriate for complex / demanding situations. This role may also include managing projects.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform complex assessments, provide specialist advice / solution and training to internal / external clients, research or development work within agreed parameters including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
• Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employees' work as requested.
• Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
• Assess / recommend the time / value of work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee / cost structure within the commercial aspect of the contract, and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and Lloyds Register’s standard terms and conditions ( commercial notice).
• Discuss / present the deliverable with internal / external client at a senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
• Assist improvement in service delivery by making recommendations based on internal / external client feedback and to help building the business.
• Coach, mentor and develop technically other employees, as appropriate and share information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
• Contribute to internal / external client management as appropriate by acting as point of contact to effectively manage client and LR relationships.
• Undertake project management where applicable including monitoring project performance against budget and contract requirements.
• Make recommendations to improve service delivery effectiveness (based on client feedback) through changes to processes or work scope such that it leads to a reduction in appraisal effort (where applicable).
• Maintain demonstrable technical competence by ensuring that competency codes remain valid by taking ownership of the activity monitoring and revalidation.
