Role Summary :
The Lead Psychiatrist will oversee all psychiatric services at Amaha Hospital, Thanisandra, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care, safety, and collaboration across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role requires strong leadership to guide the multidisciplinary team, oversee treatment protocols, and drive clinical excellence across psychiatry, psychology, and allied services. The Lead Psychiatrist will also play a pivotal role in strategic service development, clinician training, and governance of Amaha’s hospital-based mental health programs.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical Care -
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Lead case discussions and ensure high-quality, evidence-based management for all patients under care.
- Oversee the clinical functioning of the psychiatry department, ensuring best practices in medication management, documentation, and care coordination.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all clinical interactions on the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Offer psychiatric input in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to ensure integrated, recovery-oriented care.
Leadership and Supervision -
Provide clinical supervision to psychiatrists, medical officers, and trainees, ensuring ongoing professional growth and adherence to clinical standards.Guide the MDT to deliver coordinated, client-centric care aligned with Amaha’s treatment philosophy.Serve as a role model for clinical excellence, ethical practice, and collaborative leadership within the hospital.Partner closely with the Clinical Director and Hospital Operations Lead to shape service delivery, policies, and staff development.Operational and Organisational Contribution -
Oversee the day-to-day psychiatric operations at Amaha Hospital and ensure alignment with clinical governance protocols.Collaborate with nursing, psychology, and operations teams to ensure smooth and effective clinical processes.Participate in recruitment, orientation, and evaluation of medical staff.Contribute to strategic planning for hospital services, including new program development, quality assurance, and audit initiatives.Represent the hospital’s psychiatry team in leadership meetings and internal governance structures.Professional Development and Collaboration -
Engage in ongoing peer supervision, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.Participate in internal teaching, case conferences, and skill development programs for clinicians and support staff.Collaborate with the product, content, and digital teams to support innovation in clinical care and program delivery.Support research, clinical publications, and external training initiatives representing Amaha’s evidence-based approach.Desired Attributes : Qualifications -
MD / DNB / DPM in Psychiatry with a minimum of 8–10 years of clinical experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or consultant psychiatrist role.
Expertise - Extensive experience in managing acute and chronic psychiatric conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings. Strong understanding of psychopharmacology, crisis management, and integrated therapy models.

Supervision :
The peer supervision group meets once a week for 1 hour.
An all-psychiatrists group meeting happens once a fortnight for 1 hour.
