Fish Welfare Initiative is hiring a Program Manager to lead our field operations, oversee Program Associates, and maintain strong farmer relationships. If you have previous experience managing people and farmer relationships, and are passionate about animal welfare, this could be the right role for you.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Program Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our farm program, the Alliance for Responsible Aquaculture (ARA), in order to achieve its intended outcomes of improving water quality and maintaining healthy stocking densities. The following are the key responsibilities you would have :
1 - Management
- People management : Manage 3+ Program Associates.
- Project management : Supervise the implementation of ARA protocols and experiments.
- Data review : Ensure timely and accurate data entry by Program Associates.
- Audits : Conduct audits and quality control to ensure adherence to protocols.
2 - Farmer Engagement
Relationship building : Build and maintain relationships with ARA farmers.Farm information maintenance : Obtain stocking, harvest, and other farm information at timely intervals and update our data accordingly.Field presence : Spend 50%+ of your time in the field engaging with ARA staff, farmers, and other stakeholders.3 - Scaling and Strategic Assistance
Ground-truthing : Provide field input during strategic meetings with FWI leadership.Expansion : Lead the process of enrolling new farms in the ARA.WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Criteria
Nationality : You have the right to work in India.Experience with field programs : 1 year of experience managing field programs in the development, environmental protection, or animal advocacy sectors.Language : Fluent in oral and written Telugu and English.Location : Full-time presence in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh required. Expect extensive field work in the surrounding villages.Transportation : Ability to drive a motorbike or scooter on rural (often dirt) roads.Ideal Criteria
Education : Bachelor's degree or greater in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Social Sciences, or other sciences.Technical expertise : Previous experience with water quality analysis and management in aquaculture.THE FINE PRINT
