Join us in shaping the future of learning and workforce development! Degreed is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead our Data Engineering and Reporting functions.

This role will unify two critical teams under one leader accelerating the delivery of client-facing analytics, strengthening our data foundation, and driving cost efficiency at scale.

Youll play a key role in enabling trustworthy, transparent, and high-impact reporting that directly influences customer retention, renewals, and expansion.

Youll also help lay the groundwork for AI-powered analytics and deeper client insights, shaping the future of how Degreed delivers data to both internal and external users.

This is a highly cross-functional role, requiring close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Security teams.

Youll report on impact, own service reliability, and foster a strong culture of technical excellence, scalability, and accountability.

Key Skills Minimum Experience :

15 years in data engineering, analytics, or enterprise-scale reporting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Deep expertise in Data Engineering, Analytics, and Enterprise Reporting.
Strong experience with modern data platforms, including Snowflake, ELT, and Data Warehousing.
Proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams and building scalable data infrastructure.
Experience delivering BI and analytics solutions with a focus on client value and transparency.
Familiarity with AI / ML-driven use cases and enabling insights at scale.
Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, compliance, and security best practices.
Executive-level communication and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Skilled in driving operational efficiency, managing technical debt, and measuring business impact.
A systems thinker who breaks down silos and connects data efforts to business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead the Data Engineering and Reporting teams, ensuring alignment and accountability across both areas.

Drive the reporting and analytics roadmap, with a focus on accuracy, transparency, and business impact.

Build and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure to support enterprise reporting and AI-driven analytics.

Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to deliver reporting features that drive retention and upsell.

Ensure strong governance, compliance, and security across all data flows and reporting systems.

Own the reliability and performance of reporting services, including uptime and customer SLAs.

Enable advanced analytics and insights that differentiate Degreed in the market.

Foster a culture of collaboration and shared ownership, breaking down silos between data teams.

Track and report on the business impact of reporting improvements including adoption, renewals, and NPS.
