Job Title : Senior Director – Legal (India)

Role Summary : The Senior Director – Legal (India) will serve as the legal and compliance leader for Everise’s India operations, responsible for overseeing all legal, compliance, and governance matters. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, providing pragmatic legal advice to business functions, reviewing commercial and corporate documentation, and supporting Everise’s global legal framework. This position requires strong business partnership, sound legal judgment, and the ability to work both individually and collaboratively with both regional and global teams.
Key Responsibilities :
Legal Governance & Strategy
- Serve as the legal representative for Everise in India, ensuring alignment with global legal and compliance objectives.
- Support the Global Chief Legal Officer on regional initiatives, compliance rollouts, and corporate structuring activities.
- Provide risk-based, business-oriented legal guidance to leadership and operational teams.
Employment Law & HR Support
Advise HR and management on employee relations, contracts, policies, and disciplinary actions.Ensure employment documentation and practices are fully compliant with Indian labor, employment and data protection laws.Partner with HR and regional legal to support workforce transitions, investigations, and terminations.Corporate, Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, labor and employment laws, SEZ / IT Park regulations, and outsourcing-related rules and regulations, including but not limited to those issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and IT / ITES operational requirements.Oversee corporate secretarial compliance, legal filings, and board documentation for all Indian entities.Monitor outsourcing and data transfer regulations, ensuring Everise’s India operations meet global client and data security expectations.Oversee policy development, internal compliance programs, and local regulatory reporting.Partner with operations and compliance teams to implement risk mitigation measures for regulatory audits, inspections, and client due diligence.Data Protection & Cross-Border Compliance
Ensure adherence to India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) and Everise’s global privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).Collaborate with Information Security and Global Privacy teams to ensure lawful cross-border data transfer practices. 6. Dispute & Risk ManagementManage pre-litigation strategy, coordinate with external counsel, and oversee all legal notices, disputes, or regulatory inquiries.Track and maintain documentation of all disputes and compliance actions.Conduct periodic legal risk assessments for India operations.Contract Review & Negotiation
Review and revise client and vendor MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, and related agreements to ensure compliance with Everise legal and commercial standards.Identify key risk areas, propose mitigation strategies, and provide clear recommendations to commercial and operations teams.Ensure global contract templates, playbooks, and other legal resources are appropriately adapted for India, and ensure all Company contracts adhere to applicable guidelines and delegations of authority.Dispute & Risk Management
Manage pre-litigation and litigation strategy, coordinate with external counsel, and oversee legal notices and regulatory inquiries.Maintain documentation of all disputes and compliance actions; conduct periodic legal risk assessments.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent from a reputed university; advanced or international legal education preferred (e.g., LL.M. or certification from a global institution.)Eligibility to practice law in India and 12–18 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house at a multinational in the BPO / outsourcing / technology industry.Strong background in corporate, employment, and commercial law, with deep familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks.Demonstrated experience in global privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, DPDP) and advising on cross-border data governance frameworks.Demonstrated ability to review and interpret complex contracts, identify risks, and communicate actionable recommendations.Experience working within a matrixed, cross-border legal structure preferred.Core Competencies
