Job description
  • Use GIS software to analyse spatial and non-spatial information.
  • GIS experts enter GIS databases such as spreadsheet files of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates, aerial or satellite imagery, tabular data, manual digitizing of images of maps.
  • They ensure the accurate documentation of parameters and context of GIS data.
  • GIS experts are responsible for creating thematic maps for educational and environmental purposes. Individuals perform geospatial modelling or spatial analysis.
  • They analyze a wide range of areas that includes health, city government, transportation, urban planning, geology, archaeology, and marketing.
  • GIS experts use the GIS system to route emergency and fleet vehicles.
