APD is a large and rapidly growing NGO. APD’s Programs are supported by a variety of shared services that provide a variety of critical services to the organization.
These services include :
Each of these functions are headed by a senior functional professional who is a domain expert. The heads of these functions will now report to the Senior Director of Shared Services. In addition, each of these functions also have a dotted line with various committees of the board, as indicated below :
Roles and Responsibilities
The Director of Shared Services will be responsible for the management and oversight of these key functions to ensure they meet their individual goals while also supporting the Program teams to deliver services to our beneficiaries.
He will also be responsible for ensuring a greater alignment and synchronization of these differing functions to ensure greater synergy for the organisation.
The various committees of the board will be providing oversight in specific functional areas. Ensuring a smooth coordination of these interactions, managing the delivery of various plans / initiatives that have been identified by the Board will also be responsibility of the Director of Shared Services.
The strategic use of technology will be critical for the future of APD. Executing an IT road map for the organisation along with guidance to the Head IT and the IT Advisory Group will be critical.
Compliance has become an increasingly critical role in an NGO. With a plethora of evolving rules and regulations, filings and reporting requirements, it is an area where APD wishes to ensure that it continues to remain the gold standard. Preparing a risk and monitoring framework and ensuring regular oversight and reporting will be an important responsibility.
The Director of Shared Services will also support the CEO in the development, execution and monitoring of the 3-year strategic plans, annual budget cycles and organisational MIS.
APD is a people centric, services organisation and the continued development and growth of our human assets is a critical need. Developing and executing a talent management plan including training, coaching, development planning, succession planning and PMS across the organisation will be an oversight responsibility.
Experience and Educational Qualifications
a) An undergraduate degree is a minimum though a post graduate degree in business, human resources, technology or finance / CA will be preferred.
b) Must have at least 20 years of work experience with at least 10 years of general management experience, handling multiple functions including responsibility for budgeting and financial management, human resources and information technology.
c) Must have demonstrated experience to lead a group of senior domain experts and add value to a diverse set of functions.
d) Should have past experience in the development and execution of strategic plans.
e) Candidates from service centric organizations who have a track record of talent development will provide a better fit.
The preferred candidate is an experienced professional with the requisite experience in a large, organization with a stellar reputation for integrity and good practices – NGO experience in a large and complex NGO or development organization is desirable but not mandatory.
