Professional certifications (CPA, CFA, CA, or equivalent) preferred.
Roles and Responsibilities for Sr Business Analyst - Accounting
Desired Accounting & Finance Knowledge
- Core Accounting Concepts :
- Strong understanding of debits / credits, trial balances, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Awareness of how financial transactions flow into trial balances and reports.
- Familiarity with transaction types such as buy, sell, dividends, accrued interest, etc.
- Guidance & Frameworks :
- Knowledge of accounting frameworks (GAAP, IFRS) and their impact on reporting requirements.
- Ability to identify when accounting guidance affects system behavior or reporting.
- System & Data Flow Awareness :
- Understanding of data flow across financial systems – from security master, trade transactions, to ledger posting.
- Ability to connect upstream system events to downstream accounting outputs (e.g., trade bookings → expected debit / credit postings).
