Job Profile – Buying & Merchandising Analyst
Overview
The Buying & Merchandising Analyst plays a key role in linking the design and sales teams with production and vendor partners. This position supports Chemistry’s buying decisions through data-driven analysis, ensures timely execution of seasonal buys, and oversees the smooth flow from order placement to product delivery while maintaining quality and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Buying Support
- Assist in finalising seasonal and core assortment buys based on trend and sales data.
- Create detailed buy sheets and PO summaries for vendor communication.
- Track budgets, product quantities, and delivery timelines.
- Merchandising & Sales Analysis
- Analyse weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales performance by category, style, and store.
- Prepare easy-to-read dashboards and reports for management review.
- Identify bestsellers, slow movers, and key opportunities to guide future buys.
- Vendor & Production Coordination
- Follow up with vendors to ensure on-time deliveries and quality adherence.
- Liaise with internal QC, logistics, and warehouse teams for smooth intake.
- Maintain updated vendor trackers for timelines, quantities, and exceptions.
- Process & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of buys, deliveries, and revisions.
- Generate summary reports for each season comparing plan vs actual.
- Support cross-departmental meetings with data summaries and status updates.
Key Skills & Attributes
Strong analytical and Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, charts).Understanding of garment buying and production timelines.Excellent communication and follow-up discipline.Eye for product quality and commerciality.Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.Experience & Background
2–5 years’ experience in buying, merchandising, or production coordination in fashion retail or export house.Graduate in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field.Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools (Airtable / Google Sheets / ERP a plus).
