The Lead of Service & Material Quality will be responsible for developing and implementing robust quality systems that ensure all materials procured and services delivered across renewable energy projects meet organizational and international standards. The role covers vendor qualification, material inspection & testing, contractor performance evaluation, and continuous improvement of service delivery in EPC and O&M
Key Delivery :
Material Quality (Solar, Wind & Hybrid)
- Establish material quality standards for modules, turbines, inverters, structures, transformers, cables, and other BoS components.
- Lead vendor qualification and factory audits to ensure suppliers meet approved quality benchmarks.
- Oversee incoming material inspection, testing, and acceptance at manufacturing plants, warehouses, and project sites.
- Implement quality checks at every stage : manufacturing, packing, transport, storage, and installation.
- Ensure material traceability and proper documentation (mill test certificates, quality reports, factory inspection reports).
- Drive resolution of material-related NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and ensure corrective actions by vendors.
Service Quality (EPC & O&M)
Define quality KPIs for EPC contractors, OEMs, and O&M service providers.Conduct contractor audits and pre-qualification assessments to evaluate service capability.Monitor and review service delivery quality during construction, commissioning, and operations.Establish clear acceptance criteria for service deliverables (installation quality, commissioning standards, O&M compliance).Develop frameworks for service provider performance rating and ensure continuous improvement.Support warranty claims, defect liability resolution, and contractor dispute management.Governance & Compliance
Align service & material quality processes with ISO 9001, IEC, ASTM, IS codes, and customer specifications.Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to internal quality policies.Maintain databases of vendor quality performance and service quality reports.Introduce digital tools for inspection reporting, material tracking, and contractor evaluation.Continuous Improvement
Implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA processes for recurring material and service issues.Develop and roll out training programs on quality for vendors, contractors, and internal teams.Benchmark with global best practices in renewable material & service quality management.Lead initiatives in supplier development and service improvement programs.Qualifications & Exposure :
B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Materials Engineering.Certifications in Quality Assurance, ISO Lead Auditor.Experience :
15-18 years in QA / QC roles, with significant exposure to material inspection, vendor audits, and service quality management.Must have worked in renewable energy (solar, wind, hybrid, storage) sector with EPC and O&M experience.Strong knowledge of supply chain quality, vendor development, and contractor governance.(ref : iimjobs.com)
