Job Description
We are seeking a skilled SysOps Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations group, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our systems.
About the Role :
The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, with a strong understanding of Linux systems and scripting languages. They will also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Main Responsibilities :
- Monitoring system stability and performance using various tools.
- L1 / L2 support ownership of all hosting products (cpanel / plesk / vps / cloud / dedicated).
- Incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution of various product / service issues.
- Escalation handling according to policies / procedures.
- Collaboration with internal / external groups to resolve production site issues effectively.
- Clear communication on tickets and phone calls regarding various issues.
- Exhibiting a sense of urgency to resolve issues.
- BUILDING advanced automation workflows for automating repeated issues.
- Collaboration with our infrastructure team to deploy and maintain Linux / Windows servers using automated scripts and a predefined runbook.
- Ensuring SLA's and Operational standards are met.
- Raising tickets to different internal groups to resolve recurrent problems, alerts, and following up on escalated issues.
- Liaison with engineering teams for RCA's, permanent resolutions on issues affecting production sites.
- Contributing to Operations handbook.
- Ensuring smooth hand-offs between shifts.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements :
Graduate Degree : In Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.Strong Academic Record : Consistently high grades throughout your academic career.Technical Skills :Linux : Strong understanding of Linux Systems, Shell / Bash, sed / awk / grep / egrep, VI / VIM / Emacs, netstat, lsof, strace, ps / top / atop / dstat, grub boot config & systems rescue, fstab / disk labels, ext3 / ext4, IPtables, sysstat (sar / vmstat / iostat etc), run-levels & startup scripts, sudo / chroot / chkrootkit / rkhunter.Windows : Understanding of Windows 2000 / 2003 / 2008, NTFS chkdisk / acls etc, Troubleshoot system / application faults using Event logs, Updates via WSUS, Terminal Services, IIS Fundamentals.Fundamentals : Basic DNS & Networking, TCP / UDP, IP Routing, HA & Load Balancing Concepts.Application Protocols : SMTP, HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP.Shift Work : Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and holidays.Good To Have
