Job descriptionTest native mobile applications that make heavy use of networking code, both manually and via automation. This role is a hybrid between a traditional software QA role and an automation engineer. The bulk and the emphasis of the work is expected to be in automation, while manual testing work should be on an as needed basis onlyUnderstand the requirements, design and build manual and automated test scenarios to thoroughly test mobile apps’ features and logicAdopt various testing methodologies like exploratory, regression, acceptance, validation, boundary and sanity testing to ensure features are usable, reliable and work as designed and specifiedDesign and implement test scripts and automated UI testsDesign and implement canaries or other equivalent automated product monitoring structuresResponsible for testing all functionalities and features of our mobile applications on handheld devices, ensuring the applications meet the required standards and requirements. Able to load application software to iOS and Android devices and extract data from those for debugging and defect reporting purposesPerformance / Load testing : Coordinate with development teams for benchmarking of product before releasing. Conduct suitable experiments for performance testing & running performance testsWork closely with mobile developers to recognize and report all discovered problems, bottlenecks, deadlock, non-responsive states and any other issue that compromises the quality of the product. Be prompt in defect reporting, work with developers and tech leads, followupBe actively involved in all phases of testing life cycles such as Functional, Regression, End2End, Alpha & Release Testing, write and execute test plans and test casesBe creative in designing and executing tests for edge or rare cases. “Think like a user”, try to replicate real users’ actions, thinking and behaviors with respect to the productBe actively involved in Agile development model, working with developers in sprints, in-sprint testing and defect reporting, participate in Agile ceremoniesidentify and implement QA processes and best practices as part of providing quality products for the Business, with no quality escapes Should have minimum 3 years of manual testing experience with mobile appsShould have minimum 2 years of test automation development experience for mobileShould be a person familiar with testing native mobile applications as well as with IDEs, testing and profiling toolsExperience with testing tools such as Appium, ADB, Postman Rest API, Charles ProxyExperience with Python for automationExperience with programming languages such as Java and or Swift is a value addWorking knowledge of CI / CD conceptsKnowledge of version control systems preferably Bitbucket or GithubUnderstanding of HTTP / S communicationUnderstanding of Bluetooth and Location functions on a mobile phoneUnderstanding of JSON formats and parsersExperience with Android Studio and / or Xcode is a value addExperience with Instrumentation and Profiling tools that mobile platforms provideWorking understanding of native apps support, properties, behavior and life cycle in the iOS and Android OSExperience working in Agile-scrum environment and using Agile methodologies and toolsAbility to work as part of a team and interact effectively with othersGood documentation skillsFlexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and adjust to a dynamic, changing technical and business environmentShould have the ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Direction and support will be provided by the manager, technical lead or other senior engineers, but the candidate is expected to be a proactive member not afraid to put forth his / her own ideas
About the Role
- Seeking a strong mobile test automation developer and mobile manual tester with proven background in building and delivering efficient test automation for test cases driving mobile testing of systems and logic to ensure quality releases and products. The successful candidate must have a good foundation in testing mobile applications software and developing automation solutions for Android and / or iOS. The successful candidate will work in testing and debugging native applications for mobile devices. This position will be responsible for testing mobile applications but primarily contributing to the team’s existing automated testing framework. The candidate will be enhancing this framework in terms of both designing / developing automated test cases and converting existing manual test cases to automated ones. This position is expected to adhere to industry best practices of source control, code review, automated testing (unit and regression) to the team.
