Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design and development of Prasanna Packaging’s machine range. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Solid Edge / SolidWorks , an excellent understanding of mechanical systems, and hands-on experience in designing packaging or capital equipment.
This is a senior technical role for a professional with 15+ years of experience in packaging machinery or similar automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Design & Development
Lead the design of PPMPL’s core equipment including :
Cup Filling & Sealing Machines
Tin Filling & Seaming Machines
Bottle Filling & Crown Capping Lines
Pouch Filling & Capping Machines
Cartoning Machines
Conveyors & Packaging Automation Modules
Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, assemblies, and BOMs .
Develop hygienic, safe, and efficient designs suitable for dairy, food, and FMCG applications.
Perform design calculations, mechanism design, motion studies, and engineering validation.
2. Engineering Documentation
Prepare accurate manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
Conduct DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.
Manage ECOs, revision control, standardization, and documentation workflows.
3. Product Improvement & Innovation
Analyze machine performance, customer feedback, and field reports to drive design improvements.
Lead value engineering initiatives for cost reduction and improved manufacturability.
Implement new technologies, materials, and design methods for product enhancement.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with production, procurement, QA, assembly, and service teams .
Support machine trials, FAT / SAT, and resolve design issues during assembly / testing.
Provide pre-sales technical support for customer-specific requirements.
5. Vendor & Manufacturing Support
Review supplier drawings, ensure manufacturability, and approve technical submissions.
Provide ongoing support to the shop floor for fabrication, machining, and assembly.
6. Project Leadership
Plan and manage design timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables.
Ensure timely and error-free design release aligned with customer commitments.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualifications
B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering.
M.E / M.Tech preferred.
Experience
Minimum 15 years in :
Packaging machinery design
Capital equipment
Special purpose machines (SPM)
Automation systems for FMCG / Food / Dairy / Pharma sectors
Technical Skills
Expert in Solid Edge & SolidWorks .
Strong knowledge of :
Sheet metal design
Pneumatic & servo systems
Hygienic machine design
Mechanisms, kinematics, machine elements
Weldments, assemblies, tolerance stacks
Motion analysis & simulations
