JOB DESCRIPTION – MANAGER- CORPORATE TAX
Direct Tax Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of direct taxation, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws, optimizing the company's tax position, and providing strategic tax planning guidance. This role involves a blend of technical tax expertise, analytical skills, and collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. Person is responsible for handling direct taxes of entire group entities involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance and Reporting : Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all direct tax returns (e.G., corporate income tax, withholding tax, advance tax) across all applicable entities & jurisdictions. This includes managing tax provisions and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards (e.G., GAAP, IFRS).
- Group Reporting : Drive and oversaw US Group reporting requirement through timely preparation & ensure all tax scheduled to the Group reporting have been prepared and submitted in time for the year end (January to December).Resolve all queries raised by the group either through email or through scheduled meetings.
- Tax Planning and Strategy : Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings while ensuring full compliance with tax laws. Advise tax head and CFO on the tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and new business initiatives and cross-border operations.
- Tax Audits and Litigation : Manage inhouse all direct tax audits, inquiries, and assessments from tax authorities. Formulate and prepare responses and submissions, and represent the organization before tax officers and appellate authorities (e.G., CIT(A), ITAT).
- Transfer Pricing : Oversee transfer pricing compliance and documentation to ensure alignment with international guidelines and regulations, managing inter-company arrangements and reporting requirements (e.G., BEPS / CbCR / OECD).
- Research and Analysis : Stay updated on changes in domestic and international tax laws and regulations, interpret their potential impact on the company, and recommend necessary actions or strategies.
- Process Improvement and Technology : Identify opportunities to automate and streamline tax processes and leverage technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and risk management within the tax function.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with internal teams (finance, legal, opcos, TA) and external advisors / consultants to ensure alignment on all tax-related matters and integrated tax planning.
- Managing Team : Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance and training to junior tax staff.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualification : A Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.Relevant Experience : Typically, 5-7 years of post- qualification experience in direct taxation, preferably within a large multinational corporation in similar sector or a top-tier public accounting / consulting firm.Technical Skills : Deep technical expertise in direct tax laws and regulations (India and international), tax accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), and experience with reputed ERP systems and tax software.Soft Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional written and verbal communication, attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.People management : Ability to manage team members and train them suitably and be a good team player and contribute for organisational growth.
