The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining our cloud-based systems and services on AWS. Works to improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our healthcare applications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures on AWS
- Configure and manage EC2 instances, EBS volumes, S3 buckets, VPCs, IAM roles, and other AWS services
- Develop infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible
- Automate deployment pipelines and manage CI / CD processes using Jenkins, CodePipeline, etc.
- Optimize cloud costs through proper resource sizing, auto-scaling, reserved instances, and spot fleets
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of applications
- Provide hands-on infrastructure administration, maintenance and operations support
- Diagnose, trouble shoot and correct infrastructure issues
- Works within and adheres to symplr infrastructure architecture, design and security, testing and documentation standards, within the company Change Control policy
- Responsible for adhering to and administering all company infrastructure and business continuity processes
- Writes and maintains documentation related to infrastructure operations, policies and procedures
- Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with systems and services
- Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for complex problems escalated from IT Operations
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24 / 7 support for production systems
Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical fieldThree years of experience managing infrastructure on AWS or similar cloud platformsStrong understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and best practicesProficiency in scripting languages like Python, Ruby, or Bash for automation tasksExperience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or AnsibleFamiliarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration with KubernetesKnowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and compliance requirements (HIPAA)Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skillsProfessional AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator)Experience supporting cloud infrastructure in a regulated industry like healthcare or financeHands-on experience with serverless computing frameworks like Lambda, API Gateway, Step FunctionsKnowledge of agile / scrum methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teamsContributions to open-source projects or community involvement via meetups, blogs, conferencesSkills Required
