Job Designation / Title : Deputy General Manager / General Manager

Position Reports to : Sr. Director – Livelihood Operations

Position Summary

The incumbent will be part of the Operations team, which closely collaborates with the program team. The program team is primarily tasked with planning and coordinating, managing budgets and resources, identifying and mitigating risks, and monitoring the conversational English program performance for Magic Bus's livelihood vertical. The core objective of the livelihood training is to empower youth by enhancing their employability through life skills, 21st-century skills, advanced digital skills, financial literacy and to learn be able to develop the confidence to speak in English through live virtual interactive classes using participation and application. In the role of Deputy General Manager / General Manager, the incumbent will play a strategic and operational role in supporting Magic Bus's livelihood vertical to operationalise the conversational English programme. This role requires a leader with a strong background in program management, including people management, managing virtual delivery of the English teaching, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching delivery, and aligning with the programme objectives and targets. The incumbent will lead the strategic and operational rollout of the Conversational English Programme across India. The role involves ensuring high-quality implementation, mentoring regional teams, and building strong systems for scale, impact measurement, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibility Areas

Programme Implementation & Operations :

Lead the national-level operationalisation of the Conversational English Programme

Oversee onboarding, training, and capacity building of trainers

Design, standardise, and implement a process for curriculum delivery, monitoring, and evaluation

Team Leadership & Mentoring

Provide strategic guidance and mentoring to the training team

Build a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning

Conduct regular review meetings and field visits to provide feedback and coaching

Stakeholder Engagement

Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and compliance

Represent the programme at review meetings

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

Track programme outcomes

Identify challenges and implement corrective measures

Produce regular reports

Criteria

Essentials / Desirables

Knowledge

Essential :

Basics of project management cycle, tools for tracking progress

Awareness of the Indian skilling ecosystem and challenges faced by Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) youth, and the role of EdTech solutions in addressing these challenges

Understanding of resource allocation, budget tracking, and logistics for multi-location programme rollouts

Basics of monitoring, evaluation, and learning

Desirable :

Fundamentals of adult learning and participatory training methodologies

Skills

Essential :

Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.

Strong project management and operational execution capability.

  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written);

Ability to manage diverse stakeholders.

Commitment to working with youth from underserved backgrounds.

Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented in documentation and reporting using field data

Desirable :

Has coordinated or managed large-scale social impact programs

Strong understanding of technology-enabled learning models is an advantage

Working knowledge of Hindi / regional languages is desirable.

Academic & Professional Requirements

Essential :

Master’s degree in education / English / Development Studies / Management (preferred).

15–18 years of experience in programme management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role .

Desirable :

Prior experience in mass English content delivery and its operationalization in education or skilling focused interventions
