Job Description : DevOps Engineer / Deployment Engineer

About the Company : ZeTheta Algorithms Private Limited is a pioneering FinTech start-up developing innovative AI-powered educational tools for simulated financial training and learning. We're revolutionizing how students and fresh graduates gain practical experience in financial markets and technology through our comprehensive platform.

About the Role : The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. Working closely with student interns and fresh graduates, you'll ensure smooth deployment of our FinTech platforms while establishing best practices for continuous integration and delivery. This is a hands-on role that combines technical expertise with mentorship opportunities. Understanding and experience of multiple tech stacks is essential.

Key Responsibilities :

CI / CD Pipeline Management :

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated CI / CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes for multiple web applications and APIs
  • Establish automated testing frameworks and code quality checks in deployment workflows
  • Create deployment strategies including blue-green deployments and rolling updates
  • Manage version control workflows and branching strategies for student development teams
  • Set up automated rollback mechanisms for failed deployments

Cloud Infrastructure & Optimization :

  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda)
  • Optimize EC2 instances for cost-efficiency and performance (right-sizing, auto-scaling, spot instances)
  • Configure and manage S3 buckets for static assets, backups, and data storage with lifecycle policies
  • Set up and optimize AWS services : CloudFront (CDN), Route 53 (DNS), ELB (Load Balancers)
  • Implement AWS cost optimization strategies to minimize cloud spending while maintaining performance
  • Monitor and optimize database performance on RDS and MongoDB Atlas
  • Configure VPC, security groups, and network architecture for secure deployments

    • Testing & Quality Assurance :

  • Implement automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Pytest, Selenium)
  • Set up code coverage tools and enforce quality gates
  • Create integration and end-to-end testing environments
  • Perform load testing and performance benchmarking using tools like Apache JMeter or k6
  • Debug deployment issues and work with development teams to resolve code problems
  • Establish monitoring for test execution and deployment success rates

    • Monitoring & Observability :

  • Implement application and infrastructure monitoring using CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus
  • Set up logging aggregation and analysis (ELK Stack, CloudWatch Logs)
  • Create dashboards for system health, performance metrics, and deployment tracking
  • Establish alerting systems for critical issues and downtime
  • Monitor application performance metrics (response times, error rates, throughput)
  • Generate regular reports on system uptime, performance, and cost optimization

    • Security & Compliance :

  • Implement security best practices for cloud infrastructure (IAM policies, encryption, secrets management)
  • Set up SSL / TLS certificates and HTTPS configurations
  • Manage AWS Security Groups and Network ACLs
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Ensure compliance with data protection standards for educational platforms

    • Documentation & Mentorship :

  • Create comprehensive documentation for deployment processes and infrastructure setup
  • Document troubleshooting guides and runbooks for common issues
  • Mentor student interns on DevOps practices and cloud technologies
  • Conduct code reviews focused on deployability and cloud best practices
  • Train team members on AWS services and deployment workflows

    • Qualifications :

    Essential Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 2-4 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or deployment engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route 53)
  • Proficiency in CI / CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI)
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Docker Compose)
  • Solid understanding of Linux / Unix systems administration
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Node.js for automation
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Knowledge of Git version control and branching strategies
  • Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, CDN)

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect Associate, DevOps Engineer, or similar)
  • Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic)
  • Knowledge of database administration (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and test automation
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with development teams in agile environments
