Your Role

As a Gensler Interior Designer, you will tap into your boundless creativity and passion for design to produce unique and functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You are a self-motivated, team player who is ready for active participation in all phases of the design process. In this position, you will collaborate with our Design Directors, Technical Directors and design leadership on a variety of exciting hospitality, residential and retail projects.

What You Will Do

An integral part of the design team, lead towards a cohesive and rational design solution which conforms to the project brief and is technically, legally and financially responsible.

Guide skill development of junior designers.

Contribute to and reinforce the “team effort” method of producing design projects.

Take responsibility for implementing approved briefing approach.

Prepare the design analysis and research.

Lead project meetings at the discretion of the Design Manager.

Solve complex design problems through schematic design and design development.

Oversee the preparation of graphic materials for presentation to client.

Research and recommend appropriate systems, materials and finishes.

Present design schemes and documents to the client with the Design Manager.

Oversee the design development package for production.

Work with technical team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents.

With Design Manager, liaise as necessary with client on issues of design.

Develop strategic planning, conceptual designs, design development, and production.

Perform interior design assignments that include conceptual design, schematic design, design development & construction documents.

Provide design support for completion and execution of design projects.

Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.

Participate in selection of FF&E colour palettes & material presentations and generate specifications.

Participate in business development efforts.

Participate in exciting design and research projects and bring a new perspective to what we do for our clients.

Support project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them. Coordinate sustainability targets with project consultants and engineers.

Implement sustainable design strategies in every project stage and investigate solutions to sustainable design challenges.

Work collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and research.

Lead climate focused analysis and studies for each project.

Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

Your Qualifications

8+ year’s professional experience including proven track record of contributing to the design of hospitality, retail , residential or commercial interiors projects.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of design.

International work experience / exposure especially on Hospitality Interiors is preferred.

Strong planning abilities and with the ability to mentor team members, offer guidance and leadership.

Strong skills in client relationship management and presentation.

Must be a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team.

Proficiency in the use of Revit and other 3D computer design programs.

Proficient in Creative Adobe Suite applications specifically InDesign.

Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials and specifications.

Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.

Strong organizations skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

Knowledge in sustainable design principles required.

LEED, WELL, Fitwel, LFA or other rating systems accreditation preferable.

Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and / or Net Zero Building certification.

Demonstrate a collaborative and integrated approach towards achieving high sustainability project goals.

Your Design Technology Qualifications

Essential

Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery.

Good knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows.

Basic understanding of the setting up of new models.

Desirable

Good working knowledge and experience in Rhinoceros for design authoring.

Basic understanding and familiarity with interoperability workflows between various design tools such as, AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, etc

Good knowledge and experience in the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviews.
