Head – Design Engineer (Sheet Metal Fabrication)

The Head – Design Engineer will lead the design and development function for all sheet metal fabrication projects. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep technical knowledge, innovation capability, and the ability to manage a team of design engineers to deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions.

Key Responsibilities Lead the entire design department for sheet metal components, assemblies, and product development.

Review and approve design drawings, models, and fabrication layouts as per industry standards.

Work closely with production, quality, and marketing teams to ensure manufacturability and functionality.

Optimize designs for material usage, accuracy, and ease of manufacturing.

Manage a team of engineers, assign projects, and monitor progress.

Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance for complex projects.

Coordinate with customers for design feasibility, drawing approvals, and project updates.

Develop standard design practices and enforce CAD data management systems.

Research new materials, tools, and technologies to improve design efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 10 years of experience in sheet metal design, fabrication, and product development.

Strong knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo.

Proficient in GD&T, fabrication tolerances, and BOM creation.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Exposure to manufacturing processes like laser cutting, bending, welding, powder coating, and assembly.
