Associate Director - Finance & Compliance (Retail / Fashion Industry)

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant to lead accounting, compliance, and financial control across the entire company. This role will be responsible for full-spectrum bookkeeping, statutory compliance, inventory accounting, audit, and regulatory filings, while partnering with business teams to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have deep retail and inventory accounting experience, proven leadership in multi-entity environments, and the ability to build scalable processes to support rapid growth.

Responsibilities :

Accounting & Reporting :

Preparation of financial statements on a standalone & consolidated basis for group entities on a monthly basis.

Supervise books of accounts for global entities based out of USA, Hongkong & China.

Ensure reconciliations between consolidated accounts and MIS are completed, documented, and variances explained.

Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.

Manage reconciliations, accounting and reporting for third party marketplaces.

Audit, Tax, Legal & Compliance :

Lead statutory audits for India and US entities.

Manage direct and indirect tax compliance – GST, income tax, TDS in India; US federal and state tax filings.

Manage all regulatory filings (MCA, RBI / FEMA, GST, PF, ESIC, TDS, transfer pricing, tax returns, income tax assessments, labor law compliances etc).

Liaise with the CFO to review legal contracts and be the first point of contact for any legal related issues.

Other :

Play a key role in investor financial, legal and tax due diligence reviews.

Define and continually evaluate SOPs that relate to financial reporting and compliance.

Collaborate with the technology team to streamline financial reporting between accounting software and internal reporting platform, with the goal of maximizing automation.

Qualifications :

Chartered Accountant with 8-10 years of work experience.

Retail industry experience.

Required Skills :
