Team Lead - Data Engineering & Data Science

We are looking for a Team Lead Data Engineering & Data Science to lead teams responsible for building scalable data platforms, reliable pipelines, and production-grade data science solutions that directly support AI products and business outcomes.

You will guide data engineers and data scientists across the full data lifecyclefrom ingestion and transformation to analytics and applied machine learning.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead, mentor, and support data engineers and data scientists across multiple initiatives.

- Remain hands-on in system design, architecture reviews, and complex problem-solving.

- Own technical direction for data platforms, batch and streaming pipelines, and ML-enabled data products.

- Ensure high standards for data quality, reliability, governance, and observability.

- Guide design and implementation of scalable ETL/ELT workflows.

- Support development, deployment, monitoring, and iteration of production ML models.

- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to align data initiatives with business goals.

- Improve data tooling, workflows, and development standards across teams.

- Support hiring, onboarding, and career development for data-focused roles.

Required Skills & Experience :

Engineering Leadership :

- 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring data engineers and data scientists.

- Proven ability to balance people leadership with technical ownership.

Strong Technical Background :

- 10+ years of overall experience as a data engineer, data scientist, ML engineer, or full-stack engineer.

- Remains hands-on with architecture, reviews, and critical implementations.

Data Engineering :

- 5+ years of experience building scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.

- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and pipeline reliability.

Data Science & Machine Learning :

- 3+ years of experience in applied data science and production ML systems.

- Familiarity with model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

Data Platform Design :

- 5+ years of experience designing cloud-based data architectures.

- Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured data.

Programming & Data Processing :

- Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and ML workflows (5+ years).

Data Quality & Governance :

- 3+ years of experience ensuring data reliability, validation, observability, and compliance.

Product Alignment :

- 3+ years of experience translating data and ML capabilities into business and product value.

- Strong collaboration with Product and cross-functional teams.

Core Competencies :

- Data platform architecture and scalability.

- Batch and streaming data pipeline design.

- ML lifecycle and production readiness.

- Data quality, governance, and observability.

- Technical leadership and cross-team collaboration.

- Product-focused prioritization and delivery.

- Coaching, mentorship, and team development.

Nice to Have :

- Experience with LLMs, embeddings, or retrieval-based systems.

- Familiarity with modern data tools such as Airflow, Prefect, dbt, Spark, Kafka, MS Fabric.

- Experience with vector databases and feature stores.

- Exposure to MLOps tools like MLflow, DVC, Azure ML.

- Background in AI-first or data-driven product organizations.
