About the Role :
The Principal SDET will serve as the senior-most technical authority for quality engineering, driving the strategy, architecture, and standards for testing across the entire engineering organization. This role influences multiple teams, ensures scalable automation practices, and establishes the next-generation automation ecosystem that accelerates product delivery with quality and confidence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and define the long-term vision for the cross-platform, enterprise-grade test automation ecosystem
- Lead the design and enhancement of automation frameworks supporting web, API, and performance testing
- Prototype core automation libraries, tools, and services for company-wide engineering adoption
- Establish quality engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement emerging technologies and testing paradigms, including AI-driven testing approaches
- Guide engineering teams in optimizing automation and test strategies for complex CI / CD pipelines
- Collaborate with directors, architects, and senior engineering leaders to align quality initiatives with business objectives
- Mentor SDETs and senior engineers to raise engineering excellence and technical depth
- Oversee quality governance, risk identification, and automation maturity across multiple product lines
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance release quality, speed, and reliability
Required Skillsets :
Deep expertise in architecting enterprise-scale automation frameworksStrong hands-on mastery in C#, .NET, Selenium, API automation, and performance testingStrong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and complex product architecturesExpert-level experience with CI / CD systems such as Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar platformsProven ability to design test strategies for high-velocity, multi-team engineering environmentsStrong leadership, stakeholder management, and technical decision-making skillsExcellent communication and influencing abilities across engineering and leadership layersAbility to evaluate and adopt advanced testing technologies including AI-assisted validation, anomaly detection, and intelligent test generation(ref : hirist.tech)
