Junior accountant is responsible for a range of financial tasks including recording transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and performing bank reconciliations. They also assist with month-end close activities, prepare financial reports and statements, and support audits and compliance checks. This role typically involves working under the supervision of senior accountants.
Key responsibilitiesRecording and reconciling transactions : Post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and conduct bank and ledger reconciliations. Accounts payable and receivable : Process invoices, manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, and issue invoices. Financial reporting : Assist in preparing financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements, along with monthly reports. Month-end and year-end close : Perform various tasks related to closing the books for the end of a fiscal period. Audit and compliance : Assist senior accountants with internal and external audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Payroll : Assist with processing payroll and calculating payroll taxes. Required skills and qualificationsEducation : A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is typically required. Technical skills : Proficiency in accounting software (like QuickBooks or ERP systems) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Core competencies : Strong attention to detail, good analytical and mathematical abilities, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Accounting knowledge : A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
