The Semiconductor & Electronics BU (SEBU) Systems R&D unit of Emerson Test & Measurement Group has an immediate opening for a Principal Engineer. This group works on a wide variety of projects from architecting and building automation frameworks that include system-level software components & measurement IPs for validation of Mixed Signal and RF Semiconductor ICs. In addition to system design and development, our group is also responsible for exploration of new and emerging application areas to help in the definition of future offerings, while collaborating with Sales, Application Engineers and Offering Management.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be :
- Architecting / Developing framework solutions supporting Electronics and Semiconductor lab automation across Mixed Signal or RF products
- Integrating range of NI SW products to develop full workflows that support product characterization and validation in Semi & Elect labs
- Architecting / Developing solutions that help a customer go from Specification to Automation to Data and then analytics, with the goals of improving overall product quality by finding all functional issues and parametric weaknesses
- Ownership of system and / or features of system. Lead system / features from definition through release.
- Collaborate with global R&D teams on feature dependencies, product release, customer critical issues etc.
- Design / Develop IP / features for re-usability across systems / future opportunities. Follow software development processes and standard methodologies for design / development.
- Seek feedback on the system / features from Business Managers, System Architect, Application Engineers etc. and implement.
- Provide technical leadership to projects / teams. Drive technical decisions while balancing technical and business needs. Work closely with additional technical lead globally to ensure alignment
- Creatively bridge gaps between our existing products to enable value for customers. Advocate for solutions and acting as SME for local and global Application Engineers
- Identify and recommend architecture and process improvements to benefit long-term product quality and development efficiency.
- Represent local and global customer requirements and priorities.
- Lead critical issues and customer partner concerns to effective resolution.
- Lead / drive initiatives to advance the skills / proficiency of the team.
- Cultivate culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead / mentor junior engineers in the team.

/ / in Electronics and Communications / Telecommunications / Electrical / Instrumentation10 + years of industry experienceDemonstrated ability in problem-solving, optimally diagnosing technical issues and proposing reasonable solutions.Expertise in design and development of automation framework & tools using LabVIEW, Python, C# and TestStand.Strong understanding and experience of object-oriented programming, data structures, software architectures, design principles and patterns.Familiarity with Agile software development practices is preferred.Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart :
