The Group You’ll Be A Part Of DPG Engineering Operations

Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility : Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the Hardware group. The Hardware group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability. In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam’s products.

The Impact You’ll Make

Join Lam as an Mechanical Hardware Designer and create innovative designs that improve costs, reliability, and advancements in next-generation products. You'll apply digital design, CAD software, and interpret engineering drawings to implement designs that solve material and manufacturing process challenges. Your expertise contributes to the reliability and innovation, showcasing Lam's commitment to cutting-edge technology.

In this role, you will directly contribute to Hardware Engineering which includes Design / Drafting of Lam deposition products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product development engineers and create detailed engineering drawings and CAD models for the design concepts and design changes of complex parts and assemblies.
  • Implement design changes for parts and assemblies, including changes to address issues identified in supplier build or problem reports.
  • Select OEM parts based on design requirements and best-known methods.
  • Document and release engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management to support manufacturing.
  • Own the workflow and recommend corrective solutions for Problem Reports related to Safety, periodic reporting of progress.
  • Conduct Design review to get buy-in from all cross functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5-8 years of experience.
  • Highly skilled in 3D CAD modeling tools such as CREO, NX, AutoCAD, and others.
  • Proficiency in concept design and development for mechanical components or sub-systems.
  • Knowledge in creating drawings for sheet metal and machined parts.
  • Knowledge in BoM management and exposure to PLM software.
  • Experience with metal machining and sheet metal fabrication and casting processes.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering, engineering / design methods and processes, and engineering drawing.
  • Solid knowledge on welding symbols, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, surface finish, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) drafting standards.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the semiconductor equipment industry.
  • Experience in global cross-functional teams within a matrix organization.
  • Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts.
  • Familiarity with Bills of Material (BOM) structure and configuration, and use of SAP and PLM system software.
  • Knowledge on industrial control panel design.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge on analysis software like Pro-Mechanica or equivalent to do structural validation of the simple fabrication components designs.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
