The Role :

This is a critical, conversion-focused position within the team in India, supporting the University of Reading's student recruitment and admissions process. The Recruitment & Conversion Officer (RCO) will be essential in delivering a proactive, efficient, and effective service by driving conversion rates through direct engagement with prospective students and offer holders. The role requires good communication and tenacity, with a focus on high-volume, results-oriented calling.

The position will also require collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. The role holder will also support in organising and playing an important role in the execution of internal and external events, including team meetings, training sessions, and engagement activities. This includes coordinating logistics, liaising with vendors, managing invitations, and ensuring smooth execution to enhance team collaboration and morale.

Key Responsibilities

Conversion and Communication

High-Volume Calling :

Conduct consistent, high-volume outbound calling campaigns to a large pool of contacts - including new leads (collected through various sources), applicants, and offer holders - to increase conversion.

Cold Calling :

Be comfortable with and proficient in proactive calling and cold calling to engage prospective students who have shown initial interest.

Pipeline Management :

Actively track and nurture contacts at every stage of the admissions process, answering queries, clarifying requirements, and motivating them to complete the next steps (e.g., applying, meeting offer conditions, paying a deposit).

Information Delivery :

Clearly articulate the university's value proposition, program details, entry requirements, and the benefits of studying at the institution.

Query Resolution :

Resolve or escalate applicant queries regarding applications, fee status, visa requirements (UKVI compliance), and pre-departure information.

Data Management & Collaboration

CRM System Updates :

Accurately log all call outcomes, interactions, and follow-up plans in the CRM systems.

Reporting :

Track individual conversion metrics and contribute to team performance reports.

Teamwork :

Collaborate closely with the Graduate Student Recruitment (GSR) Team to streamline the conversion process and flag potential issues with applications.

Support Functions :

Represent the university at education fairs, open days, and recruitment events across India.

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including education agents, high school counsellors, and alumni.

Assist in planning and coordinating recruitment travel schedules and itineraries.

Provide administrative and logistical support for international recruitment activities.

Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic discussions on improving the admissions and recruitment process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

Experience :

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a sales, customer service, or tele-calling role, with a proven track record of meeting targets.

Communication :

Good communication skills, with the ability to maintain engagement and persuade contacts over the phone.

Tenacity :

A high degree of persistence and resilience, with comfort in making cold calls.

Technical Skills :

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience working with CRM and database management systems.

Attitude :

Proactive, result-oriented, and a strong problem-solver.

Schedule Flexibility :

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends,

Travel :

Willingness to travel across India and occasionally overseas (15-20 weeks per year).

Desirable

Prior experience in the UK Higher Education sector or international student recruitment.

Familiarity with visa processes and UKVI compliance.
