About the Role

Mid-day is looking for an

experienced Copy Editor

to join our vibrant newsroom in Mumbai. If you live and breathe news, have an eye for detail, and can craft punchy, tabloid-style headlines that make readers stop at the newsstand, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Edit and polish reporter copy for accuracy, clarity, and flow.

Craft sharp, catchy headlines, captions, and intros.

Package stories with designers for

Page 1, City, Nation, and World .

Track wires, social media, and news sites for breaking updates.

Enrich stories with data, facts, and context relevant to readers.

Proof and release error-free pages on tight deadlines.

Requirements

4–5 years of experience

in

print journalism

(daily newspaper or tabloid preferred).

Strong command of English with proven

copy editing

experience.

Skilled at writing

catchy, tabloid-style headlines .

Deep awareness of

city, state, national, and international news .

Familiarity with newsroom deadlines and page-making tools (InDesign / QuarkXPress preferred).

Based in

Mumbai

(or strong knowledge of the Mumbai market).

Ability to work under pressure and deliver clean, sharp copy

without AI tools .
