Who We Are :
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to accelerate the development of our data platform stack. In this role, you will be part of driving our enterprise wide strategy to advance the end-to-end user experience in our data landscape. This Product Manager will play a central role in developing our data platform partnering with a variety of stakeholders spanning technical (software engineering, Data scientists, product managers) and non-technical (business analysts, senior leadership) stakeholders. You will work with them to understand Wayfair’s pain points, business KPIs, and current technical gaps to develop a platform that encompasses the end-to-end data journey to advance Wayfair’s ability to delight our customers and suppliers.
In this role, you’ll translate business / user needs into a pragmatic and iterative strategy and roadmap for your engineering team(s), make smart trade-offs between time and complexity to develop market ready solutions, and ensure our solutions make the biggest impact across our spectrum of internal data producers / users. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert on the platform, push for adoption for new use cases, and continuously improve our platform capabilities.
What You'll Do :
- Be the subject matter expert and owner of your products and our end-to-end Wayfair data experience
- Prioritize many requests and ideas for features by understanding the business value and impact, weighed against the risks and development cost
- Accountable for the end-to-end delivery of platform enhancements and support
- Develop and maintain a product vision and roadmap, keeping stakeholders and constituents up to date on the top level goals and timelines
- Market your product internally to various departments to ensure all available users know about your product and how they could value from it, measure adoption and invest in any gaps proactively
- Translate product strategy / outcomes into initiatives into engineering stories / tickets, allowing engineering to run with your ideas
- Deeply understand the technology used in your products, the strong and weak points, and become an expert at market options, and influence the pivots when necessary
- Regularly communicate our periodic goals and progress to keep stakeholders apprised of your work and product progress
What you’ll Need :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.Overall of 10+ years and 5+ years of product experience in developing data or analytics platforms, with preference on experience around an end-to-end data journeyExperience in understanding of data technologies, with subject matter expertise in several products, such as such as SQL Server, BigQuery, Pubsub, Kafka, Looker, or similar technologiesExperience developing or influencing data operations standards such as access management, provisioning of assets, governance processesProven SQL knowledge – can use SQL to pull ad hoc data when necessaryStrong written and verbal communication and a demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiencesDemonstrable ability to be technically hands-on, up to architecting high-level system plans (no coding)Drive to deliver customer centric products with clear KPIs on measuring their effectiveness and usabilityAbility to work across several stakeholder groups and juggle many large initiatives simultaneouslyAbility to structure problems, develop clear hypotheses, and prioritize work against the largest impact initiativesExperience working with a large engineering team, running their sprints, stand-ups, and backlogCultivate senior presence and be the leader of your productFamiliarity with Google cloud and its data offerings
