Manager - Data Engineer Position Summary : ADM is seeking an experienced Manager for Data Engineering who is a player-coach. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role building and leading a high-performing team of developers capable of delivering high quality data solutions for a diverse set of internal customers. Strong technical acumen with modern data platforms, architectures and best practices is required with the ability to mentor less experienced developers and analysts. The ideal candidate has experience delivering work through Agile or SAFe. Job Description & Responsibilities : Lead a team of developers and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, team-driven decision making, continuous improvement, ownership and high-quality delivery Hire, retain and develop talent, including providing accurate and timely coaching Identify and mentor future leaders Plan, design and build multiple modern data products like data pipelines, data streams, and data services at the same time Manage cross-team dependencies and work with tech leads on solutions Manage consulting partners, statements of work and outdates Supervise and review activities of consultants Effectively communicates up, across and down the organization including with internal customers Prepare and present ideas & recommendations to colleagues and management Education Qualification & Skill Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI / ML, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field Typically requires minimum of 11+ years' work experience in a large-scale, enterprise environment Typically requires 8+ years of hands-on experience implementing data solutions in an Agile environment Advanced experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, SAP Datasphere, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Python, PySpark, Power BI, SSIS or other cloud-based data systems Advanced experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI / CD Advanced experience with database storage systems such as cloud, relational, mainframe, data lake, and data warehouse Advanced experience building cloud ETL pipelines using code or ETL platforms utilizing database connections, APIs, or file-based Advanced experience with data warehousing concepts and agile methodology Advanced experience designing and coding data manipulations applying processing techniques to extract value from large, disconnected datasets Requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, strong managerial skills, and the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence Deep technical experience across multiple technologies, governance frameworks, data security and data platforms Thought leader in organizations defining and implementing data mesh-based platforms and ingestion strategies to enable various data needs Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills Ability to challenge the status quo and question “we’ve always done it this way” Demonstrates initiative and leadership Able to think critically and be solution focused Strong interpersonal skills and able to work easily with business personnel Works as well independently as within a team High accountability with a demonstrated ability to deliver Strong collaboration skills working with architecture, design, and development teams Great organizational, time management and problem-solving skills Possesses a professional demeanor
