Node.js - Backend Engineer - Mobile

With a lean team of 9, we ship delightful, data-driven products—from habit trackers and child-care tools to hobbyist utilities for coin collectors, gardeners, and more.

Role Overview We’re hiring a Node.js Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the backend infrastructure powering our apps. You’ll own services end-to-end, collaborate closely with the founder / designers, and help shape our technical direction.

What You’ll Do Design and implement high-quality backend architecture and microservices

Build secure, well-documented APIs and data models

Set up and manage cloud infrastructure (servers, EC2, S3, networking, CI / CD)

Create AI workflows (image-based identification, AI chat) with production pipelines

Choose the tech stack and lead key architectural decisions

Optimize performance, reliability, and cost; monitor and debug in production

Collaborate cross-functionally to translate product requirements into technical specs

Deploy on AWS / GCP and manage cloud resources effectively

Contribute to hiring and team building

Requirements 3+ years of backend engineering experience

Strong hands-on Node.js with production systems

Solid with cloud & DevOps : AWS (EC2, S3, IAM), basic networking, observability

Proficient with databases (MongoDB or relational) and schema / design trade-offs

Familiar with service design principles, APIs, and mobile-app backends

Strong problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills

Nice to have : Java experience, GCP exposure, prior freelancing / startup experience
