Job Profile

We are looking for a strategic and experienced Head of Purchase to lead the procurement and supply chain operations of our distillery. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of raw material sourcing, vendor management, and procurement processes specific to the liquor and distillery industry. This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement of all materials required for production — from grains and ENA to packaging and utilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement process for raw materials, packaging, machinery, and consumables.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop vendor and supplier relationships for consistent supply and quality assurance.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, pricing, and supply agreements with vendors.
  • Coordinate with production, blending, and finance departments to forecast material requirements and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure procurement complies with excise, statutory, and company policies.
  • Develop and monitor purchase budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and inventory control measures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of all purchases and contracts.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and pricing fluctuations to optimize sourcing decisions.
  • Support new project expansions by sourcing capital equipment and project materials.
  • Implement ERP or procurement automation systems to streamline operations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management (MBA preferred).
  • 10–18 years of experience in procurement or purchase within the distillery, beverage, FMCG, or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of grain-based and molasses-based distillery inputs, packaging materials, and excise norms.
  • Proven expertise in vendor development, cost negotiation, and logistics coordination.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP / ERP systems and inventory management processes.
