Senior Manager / Assistant General Manager – Business Development (Power Trading)

Location :

Remote (Reporting to Bangalore)

Experience : 10+ years

Type : Full-time, On-role

Reports to : Vice President / AGM

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced professional to lead

Business Development for Power Trading in South India . The role focuses on expanding customer and generator portfolios, developing trading strategies, and driving bilateral and exchange-based power deals.

The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of the Indian power markets, open access regulations, and experience in structuring and executing trading contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Acquisition

Acquire and onboard industrial, DISCOM, and renewable generator clients for power trading.

Build long-term relationships to drive bilateral and open access arrangements.

Trading & Deal Structuring

Originate trades on Power Exchanges (DAM, RTM, TAM, G-TAM) and OTC markets.

Structure and negotiate medium- and long-term trading deals, including green attributes (RECs, I-RECs, carbon credits).

Market & Regulatory Engagement

Track market trends, competitor activity, and state regulations (SERC, CERC, SLDC / RLDC).

Assess regulatory impacts and identify new business opportunities.

Cross-Selling & Collaboration

Work with internal teams to offer integrated energy solutions (IPP, EPC, O&M, BESS, Green PPAs).

Explore bundling opportunities to enhance customer value.

Stakeholder & Industry Relations

Engage with utilities, regulators, and industry bodies to enhance business visibility.

Represent the company at industry forums, client meetings, and conferences.

Reporting & Planning

Prepare MIS reports and contribute to business strategy, forecasting, and performance tracking.

Qualifications & Skills

Postgraduate in Engineering, Business Administration, or Energy Management.

Minimum 10 years of experience in

power trading

with reputed organizations.

Strong knowledge of open access, PPAs, and bilateral trading structures.

Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.

Proven ability to execute regional business plans and manage client portfolios.

Willingness to travel extensively within South India.

Certification in Power Trading / Energy Markets preferred.

Experience in CRM tools desirable.
