Role Overview
The Factory Head will be the overall in-charge of a large-scale apparel manufacturing unit (Domestic), responsible for driving production, quality, cost, compliance, and people leadership. This is a senior leadership role, fully accountable for delivering high-volume output with world-class quality standards while ensuring operational efficiency and discipline across the factory.
The role demands a strong production background, proven experience in leading large teams, and the ability to transform operations through process excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Factory Leadership
- Lead the manufacturing unit with full accountability for production, quality, efficiency, cost, and compliance.
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly production deliverables aligned with business requirements.
- Act as the single point of leadership for all factory functions.
2. Production Planning & Target Achievement
Ensure timely execution of customer orders with zero compromise on quality and timelines.Drive capacity planning, line balancing, and scheduling for optimal resource utilization.Continuously monitor performance and implement corrective actions to meet / exceed targets.3. Operational Excellence
Oversee production, maintenance, quality, and material flow across the unit.Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement practices.Minimize downtime and maximize throughput across production lines.4. Quality, Compliance & Safety
Ensure strict adherence to buyer specifications, AQL standards, and internal quality norms.Build a zero-defect culture through strong in-line and end-line quality checks.Ensure compliance with statutory norms, safety protocols, and labor laws.5. Cost & Resource Management
Drive productivity improvement, waste reduction, and cost control initiatives.Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.Work within defined budgets while improving efficiency.6. People & Culture Leadership
Lead, mentor, and inspire a large multi-layered team of supervisors, managers, and operators.Foster a disciplined, performance-driven, and accountable work culture.Develop leadership pipeline by grooming high-potential talent.7. Reporting & Business Partnership
Prepare and present production, quality, and efficiency reports to senior leadership.Coordinate closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Corporate teams to ensure timely delivery and business alignment.Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement at the organizational level.Required Qualifications & Skills
Education : B.Tech / B.E. (Textile / Garment Technology) preferred. Diploma in Apparel Manufacturing may be considered for exceptional candidates.Experience : Minimum 15 years in apparel manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior factory leadership role.Proven success in managing large, high-volume garment factories.Strong technical knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, sewing line balancing, trims, fabric, finishing, and packaging.Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, ISO, and modern manufacturing excellence systems.Strong leadership presence with ability to manage large teams under pressure.Excellent problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
