🚀 We’re Hiring : Principal Data Engineer | Any Xebia Location (Hybrid, 3 days in office per week)

💼 Experience Level : 10+ years of Data Engineering with 4+ years team leadership experience

📅 Start Date : Immediate to end of September

About the Team :

As a Principal Data Engineer in our Data Warehouse team , you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, mentoring senior engineers, and engaging directly with clients. This position involves building a holistic roadmap for our BNL Data Warehouse offerings , solving complex data modeling challenges, ensuring smooth delivery of features, and applying modern marketing data suites. You’ll be part of a fast-growing, innovative team, driving large-scale data initiatives.

What We’re Looking For :

🔹 Must Have Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with 4+ years leading teams .
  • Strong coding expertise : Python, JVM, and Shell scripting with production-grade experience.
  • 5+ years in cloud-native, data-intensive applications with mandatory AWS expertise .
  • Proven experience in Data Warehouse design & development using modern DW tools.
  • Hands-on with Databricks and dbt (mandatory).
  • Expert in Airflow (workflow orchestration).
  • Strong experience building & maintaining Spark applications .
  • Deep understanding of file formats : Parquet, Delta Lake, OTFs .
  • Proficiency in building CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD).
  • Solid knowledge of unit testing & test automation frameworks .
  • Ability to propose / review architecture and solve complex data models.

🔹 Good to Have

  • Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes for containerization.
  • Hands-on with IaC tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to observability systems (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

    • 🔹 Soft Skills

  • Lead & mentor a team of 4–5 Sr. Engineers .
  • Drive client communication, requirement gathering, and roadmap planning .
  • Identify risks and provide mitigation strategies .
  • Conduct PR reviews & guide best practices.
  • Strong documentation & communication skills.
  • Proactive, business-value-oriented mindset.
