Job Title : Software Engineer – Test Engineering

Function : Engineering – Enterprise Application

Location : Chennai

Duration : Permanent Role.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineer – Test Engineering to join our Enterprise Applications team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and executing test strategies, developing automation frameworks, and writing test scripts to ensure the performance, stability, and quality of enterprise software solutions. You will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and QA engineers in an Agile environment to validate software via both manual and automated testing approaches.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Execution

Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for both web and API layers.
Collaborate with product owners and developers to define test criteria and acceptance standards.
Analyze test results, report defects, and work with development teams for timely resolution.
Integrate automated tests into CI / CD pipelines to support continuous testing practices.

Support & Enablement

Build and maintain reusable, scalable test libraries and automation frameworks.

Document test cases, processes, and contribute to testing best practices and guidelines.

Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups) and contribute to sprint deliverables from a quality perspective.

Assist in root cause analysis and proactively contribute to improving code and product quality through early testing feedback.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

2–4 years of experience in software testing, QA, or test automation roles.

Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks.

Technical Skills

Essential Skills

Proficiency in automated testing tools such as Selenium , Cypress , or Playwright .

Solid understanding of manual and automated testing methodologies : regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript , Python , or Java .

Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman or RestAssured .

Exposure to CI / CD tools such as Jenkins , GitHub Actions , or similar platforms.

Desired Skills

Knowledge of BDD frameworks like Cucumber or Gherkin .

Experience with cloud-native applications or containerized environments .

Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling .

Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities.
