Senior Design Engineer - Mechanical Systems

• Key Responsibilities :
• Design mechanical components and systems for new products and systems ensuring they meet specifications, regulatory standards and customer requirements.
• Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
• Perform design calculations, simulations and stress analysis to ensure mechanical systems function reliably under operational conditions.
• Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate designs before full-scale production.
• Conduct failure analysis, stress testing and material testing to evaluate the performance and durability of components.
• Iterate on designs based on test results ensuring continuous improvement in product quality and performance.
• Work closely with manufacturing team to ensure designs are feasible for production and cost-effective.
• Assist with selection of materials, manufacturing processes and assembly techniques to optimize product performance.
• Review production processes and ensure mechanical systems are produced according to specifications and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for product improvements or cost reductions in both design and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for production or design-related issues.
• Apply Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve mechanical processes and reduce waste.
• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, product managers and other stakeholders to ensure design compatibility and seamless integration with other systems.
• Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to source materials, components and tools for production.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements are understood and met throughout the lifecycle.
• Maintain thorough documentation of designs, changes and testing results to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with industry standards.
• Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Provide support for product certifications, audits and compliance activities as needed.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources effectively ensuring that milestones are met and deliverables are completed on schedule.
• Prepare project reports and present updates to senior management on progress, risks and opportunities.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously balancing priorities and meeting deadlines.
